Yo!Fest is the annual youth political festival organised by the European Youth Forum which acts as the youth voice for the European Parliament . This year it was held in Strasbourg on the 1st & 2nd June.
The Ubele Initiative took a delegation of 20 young adults aged 18 -30 years from across the UK to Yo! Fest. Our delegation was a part of ‘Working out for a Stronger Europe Hub’.
One of participants, Aisha Khan, shares below her experience:
My Yo! Fest 2018 journey opened a Pandora’s box of emotions but was all worth it!!! The lack of sleep, the stress of recruiting and then replacing participants, finding transport on planned strike days and trying to develop effective and relevant workshops and activities.
This is all forgotten when you receive messages from participants saying that they feel inspired to create change. The Ubele delegation comprised of 20 young leaders who are passionate about social change in Europe. I felt privileged to be amongst so many great minds and such excellency! They ensured the smooth running of our Open Mic and Symbol Fusion activities as well as our Intersectionality workshop. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for these young people and Ubele. May they continue to shine to Infinity and beyond!!!
