’Black Europe’ will immerse you in an exploration of what it means to be an activist and development worker in the context of European racial discrimination.
Through a series of workshops, visits, discussions and interactions you will have the opportunity to spend 5 days understanding your own practice. Our hosts in Amsterdam, Untold have vast experience in community activism. They have been involved in leading the campaign against Zwarte Piet (Black Pete). Over the past ten years they have led many European exchanges in Europe, South America, Africa and the Caribbean.
Participants on the Black Europe training will gain personal and professional insight, new domains of knowledge and practical tools for exploring these issues with the young people, adult learners and communities they work with and live in. The course will also include visits to places of historical and social significance to Black Europeans and to African Diaspora communities in Amsterdam. It will introduce embodiment techniques and processes as an alternative means of exploration and self-expression.
